Academic Eligibility Rule:
Student-athletes must be taking and passing at least four major subjects (equivalent to a year-long course credit value) to be eligible.
Bona Fide Team Rule:
If students are participating in two athletic activities in the same season, the school's program must be a priority. Ex: If a student plays field hockey for the school team and swims for a private non-school team, the student
cannot miss a school game or practice to go to a swim meet or practice instead. When there is no school activity, the student can do as he or she chooses. Any student-athlete who believes they may have a conflict should speak to the Athletic Director (Mr. Scanlon -
[email protected]) for more information and to avoid any violations and/or subsequent penalties.
The interscholastic, educational athletic program at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School is divided into Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Within each season, we offer a variety of athletic programs, each with differing levels of competition (e.g. varsity, junior varsity, freshmen, etc.) which are determined on a year-by-year basis, subject to overall interest. As a member of the
Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), ABRHS abides by the rules and regulations constitutionally approved by the MIAA, and both the school and its student-athletes, coaches, and staff are subject to any and all penalties and/or violations outlined in the MIAA Handbook. The Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, in accordance with MIAA policy, reserves the right to establish rules and regulations
in addition to the baseline criteria established by the MIAA.
