Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

On behalf of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, it is my pleasure to welcome students, families, and community members to the 2020-2021 school year. As you know, we are moving into a year like no other our students or teachers have experienced. To combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus while continuing to provide our students with the social-emotional support and quality educational instruction we have put forth a plan that will transform how we operate our buildings dramatically.

At the time of this message, we have 265 students who will be taking their courses fully remote through our Remote Learning Program (RLP). These students will receive instruction synchronously and asynchronously by our AB teachers. Students attending classes in-person will be divided into two cohorts of approximately 750 students who will attend school on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. On Wednesday the two cohorts will be taught together remotely for an abbreviated morning schedule.

To our students, I want to take a moment to remind you how important you are to our successful return to school. As students, you represent approximately ninety percent of the people in this building. Your ability to follow the COVID-19 safety protocols both in and out of school will be critical to keeping our day to day operations open. The bottom line is we are in this together and all have an equal level of responsibility for the best possible outcome. To be clear, there isn’t a group of young people I would rather be facing this challenge with than the students of AB.

To the Acton and Boxborough communities, I am grateful to you for the support you have given our schools. Without your financial commitment to our schools, bringing students back into the building would not have been possible, nor would providing a rich RLP for our students who will remain out of the building.

As we go forward you have my commitment that the high school is dedicated first to student and staff safety; second, we are here to keep students engaged in their learning and feeling good about themselves. Although there are unknowns in the immediate future, I am confident we have prepared well and by working together we can achieve

the best positive outcome for our students.

Sincerely,
