The Rev Report - March 19, 2026
Dear ABRHS Community,
We had an absolutely fabulous Junior Prom last Friday—our first in a long time! A huge thank you to the class leaders, advisors, staff, and students for organizing such a successful event.
Next week, our 10th graders will take the ELA (English Language Arts) MCAS exam on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Our students are typically very well-prepared for these assessments. Please note that there will be a three-hour delayed opening for all other students on both testing days.
Finally, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate, and I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.
Course Registration for 2026 - 2027 due Monday, March 23 at 6:00 pm
The PowerSchool Portal will be open through this Monday, March 23, at 6:00 pm for next year’s course selection process. Here are the Student Course Selection and Override Instructions, and all information can be found under the Course Registration tab on the ABRHS website.
As students think about next year, we encourage them to explore their interests and ensure balance in their overall schedules. Conversations with teachers, counselors, and families can be especially helpful. Here is the 2026-2027 Program of Studies and Visual and Performing Arts Supplement. Additionally, we have many new courses to consider, including our new 9th through 12th grade offerings of Robotics classes. Please know that registration is not done on a first-come, first-served basis. As long as you register by March 23, you have met the deadline for registration.
Senior Prom Ticket Sales - Extended Through Monday, March 23, During Lunches
Senior Prom in-person ticket sales have been extended through this Monday, March 23, in Room 115N, during all lunches. Tickets are $120.00 through March 31, and then the price will increase to $140.00 from April 1 through April 16. Seniors should bring their signed permission forms in order to buy a ticket or to pick up their ticket if they paid through E-Funds. Details and permission forms are in the Senior Prom Packet. Starting Tuesday, March 24, students can see Ms. Holden-Webber in Counseling or Ms. Maxwell in Room 243W during lunch to purchase tickets.
MCAS Testing - ELA, March 24 and 25
Although MCAS is no longer a requirement for graduation, all students are still required to complete the test. Current 10th Graders will take the ELA (English Language Arts) test this Tuesday and Wednesday. All tests are computer-based and will be taken on student-issued AB Chromebooks.
Tests begin at 8:00 am and last for three hours. If a student does not finish an exam within the testing window, they will be allowed to continue working as needed up until the end of the school day. Student tutorials, practice tests, and reference sheets can be found on the MCAS website. For students in grades 9, 11, and 12, we will follow the late start schedule next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Flex Block
On Tuesday, May 19, we will be holding a 45-minute flex block on the MCAS Late Start day. The flex block will consist of a variety of workshops led by staff, students, and community members. As in past years, students and clubs are invited to lead a workshop on a topic or activity of interest. Students have enjoyed the leadership opportunity in the past, and we hope many of you will lead sessions again. Please take a look at the Flex Block Information and Workshop Proposal Form by March 30th. Those interested will attend a 30-minute Student Workshop Leaders Training webinar on April 15 during lunch or in the evening.
AB Ambassadors 2026-2027
We enjoy welcoming a new 9th grade class to the high school every year. Our group of 11th and 12th grade AB Ambassadors helps welcome them during 8th grade tours and on 9th grade and New Student Orientation Days. The AB Ambassadors Application is due by April 14, and please reach out to Ms. Morgan or Mrs. Drowne if you have any questions.
Revised Lunch Rotation
Due to the imbalance in the number of students in each lunch, we made some shifts to our lunch schedule this week. This change worked well, and we appreciate everyone’s flexibility. Here is the new schedule:
Spring Lunch Assignments - March 9 - End Of Year
1st Lunch: Math, English, Visual Arts, Special Education, ASC I & II, ACC, MLE
2nd Lunch: Social Studies, World Language
3rd Lunch: Performing Arts, Science, PE, ASC III
Awards and Honors
Last weekend, our ABRHS Jazz Band was awarded top honors at the Clark Terry Jazz Festival. They were recognized for outstanding musicianship as one of three big bands out of thirty in New England. Additionally, we won the Top Trombone Section and several individual musician awards. Additionally, at the Nordic Ski Mass Bay West League All-Star Awards Ceremony, we had seven students place in the top 10
Senior Community Service Day - Friday, April 17
On Friday, April 17, the Class of 2026 will experience AB’s 32nd annual Senior Community Service Day. On this day, there will be over 400 seniors raking, painting, cleaning, and gardening at over 50 service project sites in Acton and Boxborough. Senior Community Service Day builds strong bridges in the community as our soon-to-be graduates celebrate the end of their high school years. Every senior is expected to participate, and the Registration and Permission Forms are due on Friday, March 27.
Conversations with a Counselor: Athletic Recruiting
Here is the link to last week’s webinar on Athletic Recruiting, in case you missed it or would like to review any information. Thank you to panelists Sara Clinton, Stephen Hitzrot, Jim Scanlon, and Gretchen Turner!
Cell Phone Cubbies Reminder
We know that frequent cell phone use is not healthy, and we want everyone to focus on connections with people, not devices. Recently, we reminded students that they are required to put cell phones in cubbies during class, and they can not use phones when they take excused bathroom or water breaks from class. There was improvement this week, and staff will continue to remind students of this rule.
Anticipated Openings, including Robotics Teacher
Please spread the word about our anticipated openings listed in this document. In particular, we are looking forward to starting a Robotics Program next year. Please reach out to me or share the application instructions if you know of anyone interested in being a Robotics Teacher.
I hope a relaxing weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Dean, ABRHS Principal
