The interscholastic, educational athletic program at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School is divided into Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Within each season, we offer a variety of athletic programs, each with differing levels of competition (e.g. varsity, junior varsity, freshmen, etc.) which are determined on a year-by-year basis, subject to overall interest. As a member of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), ABRHS abides by the rules and regulations constitutionally approved by the MIAA, and both the school and its student-athletes, coaches, and staff are subject to any and all penalties and/or violations outlined in the MIAA Handbook. The Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, in accordance with MIAA policy, reserves the right to establish rules and regulations in addition to the baseline criteria established by the MIAA.

Athletic Fees

• $350 basic fee per sport per athletic season (three athletic seasons per academic year)

• $250 additional fee per athletic season for each of the following sports: ice hockey and alpine ski

**The total maximum annual family cap for Acton-Boxborough student-athletes participating in the above activities during the 2025-2026 school year shall be $1200. Only the basic fee counts towards the total annual family cap calculation. The additional fee does NOT apply to the total annual family cap calculation.**

Revolution Rules & Policies

  • Student-athletes must be taking and passing at least  four major subjects (equivalent to a year-long course credit value) to be eligible.

  • If students are participating in two athletic activities in the same season, the school's program must be a priority. Ex: If a student plays field hockey for the school team and swims for a private non-school team, the student cannot miss a school game or practice to go to a swim meet or practice instead. When there is no school activity, the student can do as he or she chooses. Any student-athlete who believes they may have a conflict should speak to the Athletic Director (Mr. Scanlon - jscanlon@abschools.org) for more information and to avoid any violations and/or subsequent penalties.

  • Student-athletes should ride the bus with their team to and from games. If there is a special circumstance preventing a student-athlete from taking the bus, he or she is only allowed to travel with his or her parent / guardian. The Parent Private Vehicle Form must be completed PRIOR to the event and given to the student-athlete's coach.

If it becomes necessary for members of a team to use private vehicles for transportation to any events, please have their parents/guardians fill out one of the attached forms and return to you. This must be done before they will be allowed to drive/ride in private vehicles. This form must be completed prior to the event and given to your coach.
