The Rev Report - June 18, 2026
Dear ABRHS Community,
We are looking forward to our last week of school next week. We will celebrate with our 5th Annual Step Up Day Celebration on Thursday, and we thank all students, staff, and families for a wonderful year!
A highlight of this week was the Student-Teaching-Staff Ceramics Class held after school yesterday. Experienced ceramics students demonstrated techniques and helped staff use the pottery wheels. It was wonderful to see students and teachers collaborating so well with their roles reversed!
Holidays and Celebrations
Tomorrow is Juneteenth. This date commemorates and celebrates the emancipation of Black Americans in the United States. We will not have school in honor of Juneteenth, and we wish everyone a happy Juneteenth.
This Sunday, June 21, is Father’s Day, and we wish all fathers a happy Father’s Day.
Thank you to the PTSO - Project Graduation, Staff Lunch, and Flowers
Thank you to the PTSO Project Graduation volunteers for their help in organizing the safe, substance-free celebration for our graduates on June 5. Additionally, our staff enjoyed a delicious pizza and salad PTSO-sponsored lunch today. We are also very appreciative of the potted flowers outside our entrances that help beautify the school. Thank you!
Retirements - We would like to congratulate two staff members retiring this school year:
Peter Cacciola (Mr. C)
Mr. C has had a wonderful career as an athletic trainer for 44 years, with the last 24 at AB. He has worked with over 11,000 student-athletes and hundreds of coaches, and this year he earned the honor of Athletic Trainer of the Year. We wish Mr. C the best in his next chapter.
Rob Donaldson
Rob Donaldson has taught Social Studies at AB since 1992, including many history classes as well as our Economics Dual Enrollment course. He has been an Advisory Teacher leader, helping transition our advisory model to its new format, and has coached numerous successful and cohesive athletic teams over the years. We wish Mr. Donaldson the very best.
Hye Kyung Dragone
Hye Kyung Dragone taught Spanish and French at the Junior High for 10 years, followed by 13 years as a Spanish teacher here. Ms. Dragone has supervised the Korean Language Club since it began 12 years ago and has loved teaching her students to dream big and travel the world. We wish her the best as she looks forward to spending more time with her family.
Karen Farrar
Karen Farrar has dedicated the past 33 years to teaching Earth Science and Environmental Science. She also served as a member of the Transition Team for 25 years, and we appreciate her work on the Attendance Review Board, the Data Team, and the Spirit Committee. Ms. Farrar was the advisor of the Active Minds Club, raising awareness for mental health issues. We wish her the very best.
Andrea Koumjian
Andrea Koumjian worked as a Special Education Assistant here for the past 16 years. Ms. Koumjian is dedicated and knowledgeable, and someone who prioritizes positive relationships with students. She will now spend more time traveling with her husband and family. Thank you, Ms. Koumjian, for your years of service to AB students.
Michele Hirth
Michele Hirth has taught for 17 years, the last two as our Lead Special Educator in the ODP classroom. Ms. Hirth has taught in 9th–12th grade programs as well as with 18- to 22-year-olds in transition classrooms. She has positively impacted the lives of many students throughout her career, and we wish her the very best.
Janet Maxwell
Janet Maxwell taught for 32 years, starting in 1984, with some time off to raise her family. Mrs. Maxwell has taught nearly every math class and helped lead the Algebra II Honors cohort. She was a School Choice Coordinator, a MAP Alternative Program teacher, Volleyball and Cheerleading coach, Class Coordinator for the Class of '26, co-advisor for the Classes of '24, '25, and '28, and a member of the Stress Management, Scholarship, and Graduation Committees. We wish Mrs. Maxwell the best!
Sue Ropiak
After starting her career as an engineer, Sue taught math for 12 years — three at the Junior High and nine at ABRHS. Ms. Ropiak helped design our increasingly experiential, project-based AP Statistics classes, and in her final year at AB, she taught both Physics and Math. Sue also served as advisor for several clubs. We thank Ms. Ropiak for her dedication to AB and wish her the best.
