The Rev Report - May 15, 2026
Dear ABRHS Community,
Today, I had the opportunity to hear State Representative Dan Sena speak with students about his journey as a multilingual learner here at AB and his current role in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Representative Sena, a former immigrant from Brazil who was elected to the State Representative position in 2020, shared his story of perseverance through obstacles, pride in his identity, and the lasting impact of mentors and supporters along the way. Our students were asked thoughtful questions, and it was a great conversation.
As we head into a busy and exciting week, a few important reminders: Monday will be our last Early Release day of the school year. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring our Math MCAS for 10th graders, with an 11:00 am late start for all students on both days. We are also looking forward to our 3rd Annual Flex Block on
3rd Annual Community-Building Flex Block - Tuesday, May 19, 1:10 pm
On Tuesday, May 19, we will be holding a 45-minute Flex Block on the MCAS Late Start Day. The Flex Block will consist of over 50 engaging workshops led by staff, students, and community members. Click here for the Flex Block Catalog. All students will be assigned a workshop, and they will be emailed assignments early next week.
MCAS Testing - Math, May 19 and 20
10th Graders will take the Mathematics MCAS exam next week on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20. Room assignments will be emailed to students and posted outside the Counseling Center. Students must bring their student-issued AB Chromebooks. Testing will start at 8:00 am, with a three-hour window planned for each. If a student does not finish an exam within the testing window, they will be allowed to continue working as needed up until the end of the school day. Student tutorials, practice tests, and reference sheets can be found on the MCAS website.
After the 10th grade MCAS testing on these mornings, all students in grades 9 - 12 will start school at 11:00 am and follow these late start schedules.
Midpoint of Quarter 4
We have reached the midpoint of the last quarter of the school year. At this time, we encourage students and families to view current grades in the PowerSchool Portal: How to View Grades in PowerSchool.
Students are encouraged to use this information to reflect on their progress, set targeted goals for improvement, and engage in dialogue with their teachers about their learning. Students should reach out to teachers if there are any questions about grades and share this information with their families. If questions remain, families should then reach out to teachers.
Yearbooks
All 12th graders and those who ordered a yearbook in grades 9 - 11 can pick up their yearbook in Mrs. Keefe’s office, Room 133E, beginning at lunch on Monday.
