The Rev Report - March 6, 2026

Posted Date: 03/06/26 (06:16 PM)

Dear ABRHS Community,

This week was our annual World Cultures Week! From international dances to student stories to elementary student read-alouds, it was a fantastic experience. During the panel discussions on Wednesday, students expressed great pride in their cultural identities, “Always be proud of where you come from. Always hold onto your identity. We are people too, and it takes courage and vulnerability.” We are so proud of our multicultural students and community here at AB!

Don’t forget to “spring forward” one hour for Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, and have a great weekend!

Women’s History Day and Month

Sunday, March 8 is International Women’s Day, and March is Women’s History Month. This is a day and month to honor the contributions of women to history and our world.

Midpoint of Quarter 3

We have reached the midpoint of the third quarter of the school year. At this time, we encourage students and families to view current grades in the PowerSchool Portal. Students should use this information to reflect on their progress, set targeted goals for improvement, and engage in dialogue with their teachers about their learning.

Quarter 3 will end on April 3, and grades will be issued before April Break. Students should reach out to teachers if there are any questions about grades and share this information with their families. If questions remain, families should then reach out to teachers.

Spring Athletics

Students interested in Spring Athletics may register online with FamilyID until this Sunday, March 8. The mandatory Spring Preseason Athletic Night Meeting will be this Monday, March 9 at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium. Spring Tryouts and Practices will begin Monday, March 16.

Course Selection for 2026-2027- March 11 through March 23

Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will select courses for the next school year beginning next  Wednesday, March 11. As students think about next year, we encourage them to explore their interests and ensure balance in their overall schedules. Conversations with teachers, counselors, and families can be especially helpful.

The 2026-2027 Program of Studies contains descriptions of all available courses, graduation requirements, and other important information. Additionally, we have many new courses to consider, including our new 9th through 12th grade offerings of Robotics classes. Please also take a look at our Visual and Performing Arts Supplement. On March 10, students will receive instructions about online registration through email.

Additionally, the Health Office will be conducting state-mandated postural screenings for all 9th graders in April and May during their Physical Education classes.  If you wish to opt your student out of this screening, please email cmcgovern@abschools.org

MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) Testing - ELA, March 24 and 25

Although MCAS is no longer a requirement for graduation, all students are still required to complete the test. Current 10th Graders will take the ELA (English Language Arts), Mathematics, and Science MCAS exams this spring. All tests are computer-based and will be taken on student-issued AB Chromebooks according to the schedule below.

  • ELA Sessions – March 24 and 25

  • Mathematics Sessions – May 19 and 20

  • Science Sessions – June 2 and 3

All testing sessions will start at 8:00 am. There is a three-hour testing window planned for each.  If a student does not finish an exam within the testing window, they will be allowed to continue working as needed up until the end of the school day.  Student tutorials, practice tests, and reference sheets can be found on the MCAS website. For students in grades 9, 11, and 12, we will follow the late start schedule on all six testing days.

SERF College Fair will start on Monday, March 9, with webinar topics including mock admissions, gap years, financial aid, and college planning for students with disabilities. The in-person event on March 14  includes seminars about College Admissions topics and a College Fair.
