The Rev Report - January 23, 2026

Posted Date: 01/23/26 (06:36 PM)

Dear ABRHS Community,

With the second semester officially underway, I want to thank our students and staff for fostering such a productive and caring environment during the first half of the year.

That spirit of community will be front and center at our upcoming Martin Luther King Community Service Awards. We are eager to honor our students’ community service efforts and recognize our Term 2 Vision of a Graduate award winners for their commitment to the values of adaptability, integrity, collaboration, communication, and intellectual curiosity.

Looking ahead to the forecast, significant snow is expected Sunday into Monday. We will share any updates regarding delays or closures from Superintendent Light as soon as they are available. In the meantime, stay safe and enjoy the winter weather!

International Holocaust Remembrance Day - Tuesday, January 27

Tuesday, January 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This is a day to remember and honor the 6 million Jewish people who were victims of the Holocaust during the 1940s. We know that it is important to do our part in promoting Holocaust education and ensuring that we prevent genocides in the future.

Term 2 Grades and Report Cards

As a reminder, this year, we have transitioned to an Open Gradebook, in which students and families can see grades in the PowerSchool Portal on an ongoing basis. Our goal is to provide students with information so they can monitor their learning and set goals for their progress. We will send Term 2 Report Cards on February 4. Please note that between now and then, teachers will be updating grades and comments in PowerSchool. Term 2 grades and comments should not be considered final until the Term 2 Report Card is received.

Weather and Emergency Communication Procedures

As we prepare for this weekend’s weather, which could impact our school day on Monday, please review A-B’s Weather and Communication Procedures - 2025-2026.pdf. Superintendent Light will make the call about a closure or delay by 5:30 am on Monday.

Weather-Related Bell Schedule, Assembly, and Assessment Implications

If we were to have a two-hour delay on Monday, we would start school at 10:00 am and end at 2:47 pm, following this Bell Schedule. This would mean we would not have an Early Release. We would also still have our MLK Community Service Day Assemblies.

If we were to have a snow day on Monday, we would skip the Blue F Day in the rotation, and Tuesday would be a Gold E Day. We would move our MLK Community Service Assemblies to Monday, February 2, and our JSU Spotlight Series Event to Wednesday, February 11.

Should we have a delay or closures, assessments and tests may need to shift. If this results in students having more than two tests/assessments on one day, and they wish to move one, we encourage them to discuss this with their teachers or counselors prior to the test. We will waive the usual 48-hour notice and completion of the Test Postponement Form.

26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards - Monday, Jan 26

We are excited to honor 508 AB students with community service recognitions at our 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards on Monday. Barring a snow day, the schedule is as follows:

  • 11th Grade Assembly: G Block (Period 2)

  • 12th Grade Assembly: A Block (Period 3)

  • 10th Grade Assembly: C Block (Period 5)

  • 9th Grade Assembly: D Block (Period 6)

Please note that if we have a two-hour delay, all classes and assemblies will shift to later in the day, with no Early Release, and we will end the day at 2:47 pm. If there is a snow day, we will reschedule the MLK Community Service Assemblies for February 2.

AB Forward Elementary School Restructuring Decision

Last night, the School Committee voted to move forward with Reorganization Option 5v2: Moving to K-3 and 4-6 schools at the Boardwalk Campus and Parker Damon Buildings, while maintaining Blanchard as a K-6 school. The vote also determined that we will move to a geography-based enrollment model for all students beginning next year. This decision significantly impacts our elementary families and educators, and we will offer any support we can as the transition to this new model begins.

First-Ever Junior Prom - Friday, March 13

On March 13, AB will hold our first Junior Prom at the Devens Common Center! We ask that juniors complete this form so we know if you are considering attending or would like to help us plan. Email Mrs. Root (sroot@abschools.org ) or Mrs. Moser-Wight (cmoser-wight@abschools.org) with questions.

Stay warm this weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Dean, ABRHS Principal
