Posted Date: 01/09/26 (06:06 PM)

Dear ABRHS Community,

2026 is off to a great start at AB! Students and staff are back in the swing of the school routine, and our seniors are excited that this is their graduation year. This month, we are looking forward to starting the second semester on January 22 and celebrating the 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day Community Service Awards on January 26. I hope everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Eastern Senior District Music Festival - Friday, January 9 - Saturday, January 10

Nineteen AB band, chorus, and orchestra students participated in the MMEA (Massachusetts Music Education Association) Eastern District Festival at Milton High School today. Tomorrow, they will perform in the festival concerts. Congratulations to our musicians!

Virtual Panel of Recent AB Graduates - Tuesday, January 13

Our Counseling Department is hosting a Virtual AB Graduates Panel next Tuesday, January 13 at 6:00 pm. Graduates will discuss their college application experience and the transition from AB to college. It is always inspirational to hear from AB alumni about their experiences.

5th Annual AB Science Fair - Friday, January 16, 8:15 - 9:00 pm, Cafeteria

Join us next Friday, January 16 to celebrate our 115 Science Research students and their projects. The Science Fair is open to visitors, including families and children, from 8:15 - 9:00 pm, and we want to thank our sponsors, AB STEAM + the Acton Lions Club. We are still looking for judges with backgrounds in all areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Complete this form and contact Brian Dempsey (bdempsey@abschools.org), Science Teacher, with questions.

26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards - Monday, January 26

We are excited that our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards will take place during the school day on Monday, January 26. During these assemblies, we will honor Dr. King’s work in promoting racial justice through service to his community and country and celebrate the community service of our students. The schedule is as follows:

11th grade assembly - G Block (Period 2)

12th grade assembly - A Block (Period 3)

10th grade assembly - C Block (Period 5)

9th grade assembly - D Block (Period 6)

First-Ever Junior Prom - Friday, March 13

On March 13, AB will hold our first-ever Junior Prom at the Devens Common Center! We ask that juniors complete this form so we know if you are considering attending or would like to help us plan. Email Mrs. Root (sroot@abschools.org ) or Mrs. Moser-Wight (cmoser-wight@abschools.org) with questions.

Mathematics Olympiad Honors

AB had a very strong showing in the annual Mathematics Olympiad Competition. Raymond Gao tied for second place in Massachusetts, followed by Daniel Cai, Ayaan Garg, Brian Li, Tanish Parida, and Ivy Shi, who tied for 14th place. Placing in the top 15% of students were Eric Chen, Benjamin Li, Eric Li, Eric Xiang, Christopher Zhang, and Justin Zu. Shubham Kulkarni was named a semi-finalist. The second level of this examination will take place on February 24.

Project Graduation Message - Caregiver Volunteers Needed

AB Project Graduation 2026 is busy planning an all-inclusive, substance-free celebration for our seniors. Project Graduation needs parents and caregivers of students in all grades to keep this tradition going for the 37th year! Visit our website or email abprojectgraduation@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer or learn more.

Parking Restrictions

We want to remind students that only seniors with valid parking passes may park in the Senior Lot. For juniors, there are only a few junior spots near the Pump House (between the softball fields and the District Administration Building), and all others must park down at Lower Fields. Ticketing for unauthorized vehicles at the High School, Junior High, Administration, and Parker Damon Building will begin this Monday, January 12.

Hygiene Drive during January

AB Human Rights/Girl Up/UNICEF is hosting a Hygiene Drive this January to help all members of our community meet their basic hygiene needs. The club is accepting donations of products such as tampons, pads, new undergarments, and toiletries.

February 2026 MCAS Science Retest Opportunity for 11th Graders

11th Grade students who have not yet taken the MCAS or wish to improve their score, particularly those interested in qualifying for public Massachusetts college or university scholarship opportunities, may take the February 2026 MCAS science retest. Please read more here.

Yearbook Orders for 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders - Reminder

There is still time to purchase the 25-26 ABRHS Yearbook for 9th - 11th graders. The yearbook will include portraits, events, and activities for students in all grades. Families of 9th - 11th graders may purchase a yearbook using this link (please use Order #4006). Every senior has already purchased a yearbook through their senior dues, so there is no need to fill out this form for your senior.

Stay warm this weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Dean, ABRHS Principal
