The Rev Report - October 16, 2026

Posted Date: 10/16/26 (06:40 PM)

Dear ABRHS Community,

On Tuesday, we enjoyed our 2nd Annual PSAT & Community Day! Students and staff shared that they enjoyed the trips and activities, a welcome break from our regular schedule, and an opportunity to build community. We are also looking forward to our ever-popular Homecoming Dance tomorrow night.

Homecoming (HoCo) Dance – Saturday, October 17
Student Council’s Under the Sea Homecoming Dance is tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, from 7:00–9:30 pm in Stearns Gym. Students must have pre-purchased tickets and bring their school ID. Please read through the following expectations for the dance.

Midpoint of Quarter 1
We are now past the midpoint of the first quarter of the school year. Students and families should check current grades and comments: How to view Grades and Attendance in the PowerSchool Portal. Teachers with concerns about a student’s progress have entered a comment in the PowerSchool Portal or will email families. Students are encouraged to reach out to teachers with any questions about grades and share this information with their families. If questions remain, families should then reach out to teachers.

ABRHS Instructional Time and “990”

Last night at School Committee, the high school shared an update on our work to meet the mandated 990 instructional hours per year. Here is the presentation. As a recap, these are the issues we are working to resolve:

  1. All students must be fully scheduled.

  2. We must add 18 total hours to the overall school year.

  3. Seniors’ last day of school can be no more than 12 days before the end of the regular school year.

The Staff 990 Committee is working on recommending three feasible solutions to School Committee by the end of December. This week, with full staff input, the Committee finalized these Guiding Principles for its work ahead.

We plan to resolve both the seniors’ last day and the additional 18 hours by next school year. We have requested an incremental timeline that phases in the plan to fully schedule students over three years, and we will share an update when available.

The 990 Committee is committed to sharing information and providing opportunities for feedback. All are welcome at the following student and community forums:

  • Student Forums (during all lunches in South Commons): 10/27, 10/28, 11/10, 11/24, and 12/8

  • Community Forums (5:00–6:00 pm): 10/21 (virtual, link will be sent); 10/29 (Rm. 119N); 11/18 (virtual, link will be sent); 12/8 (Rm. 119N)

We also invite community members to view the 990 Website and to submit questions using the QR code below. Answers will be shared within five days.Scan Here for Questions
